Orlin Walter Lampert was born on April 16, 1880 at Stevens Point, Wisconsin. He died December 5, 1946 at White River, SD at the age of 66. On June 10, 1903 he was united in marriage at Rapid City, SD to Mary Way. Mary Way was born on March 25, 1881 at Tarkin, MO. and she died on February 8, 1947 at the age of 66. Orlin worked most of his life for the Rapid City Lumber and Machinery Company along with his brothers J.George and Arthur Arno and his brother-in-law George Bennett. Orlin and Mary had six children. Remembered oral history related by his daughters Blanche and Grace reveal that Orlin was a 'nervous man' and that the depression affected him to the point that it contributed to his death.'
