Clement was in the Revolutionary War. In 1775 he was Captain Ruben Dickinson’s Company of Minute Men, one of the first Companies to respond to the Lexington alarm. He also participated in the Battle of Bunker (Breed’s) hill. He was discharged on 18 October 1777.
In the 1790’s the family moved to Stowe, Vermont
